Michel Der Zakarian returns to Nantes dugout for a third stint

Michel Der Zakarian has returned to Nantes for a third spell, with the relegated club targeting an immediate promotion from Ligue 2.

The club said in a statement that, after Vahid Halilhodzic left at the end of the season, the Armenian coach will take charge of the first team on a two-year contract. Nantes finished last season with only 23 points.

It is a return to his roots for the former Nantes defender, who previously managed the Canaris in 2007-2008 and from 2012 to 2016.

On both occasions he guided the club from Ligue 2 back to Ligue 1, in 2008 and 2013.

Der Zakarian, 63, will be assisted by David Bechkoura and Vitorino Hilton.
