Michel Platini has lodged a complaint for public defamation. Le Parisien reports that the 70-year-old filed in late November against three former FIFA officials and a fourth person, a member of a Swiss judicial institution.
The complaint, with civil-party status, was submitted to the tribunal judiciaire de Paris by his lawyers Basile Ader and Najwa El Haïté.
It follows remarks made publicly about him by those individuals in 2015 and 2016, in media interviews in France and abroad or in press releases.
Platini, the former France No 10, was definitively acquitted in August in a fraud case that had dogged him since 2015.
That case centred on a purportedly improper payment to Platini in early 2011 of 2 million Swiss francs, €1.8m at the time, authorised by former FIFA president Sepp Blatter for technical adviser work done between 1998 and 2002. Both men ultimately benefited from the principle of doubt to the accused, in dubio pro reo, in the judgment.
