Middlesbrough have agreed to the sales of Delano Burgzorg and Kaly Sene

Middlesbrough are set to receive up to £3 million in total after deals were agreed to sell both Delano Burgzorg and Kaly Sene.

According to The Northern Echo, the former is set to move to Preston North End while the latter will be signing for Swiss side Young Boys.

Kim Hellberg’s side will be shedding some of their fringe talent, raising funds to help continue their summer business.

The Teesside outfit have been quite active in the transfer market so far, bringing in the likes of Will Lankshear, Kyle Joseph and Max Arfsten, among others.

The Championship side also completed a major sale with the exit of Hayden Hackney, with the midfielder moving to Everton in a deal worth £16 million.

And Boro have until 1 September to conclude the remainder of their transfer business, with time running out to get deals done.

It’s believed that Burgzorg will be undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Preston on Wednesday following an agreement between the two clubs.

The Lilywhites are set to pay £2 million to sign the 27-year-old, who made 25 appearances in the Championship last season for Boro, including 11 starts, before moving to Bristol City on loan in January.

However, the Suriname international struggled for consistent game time at Ashton Gate, leading to his return to Hellberg’s side.

Burgzorg is set to move to Deepdale, where Paul Heckingbottom will be hoping he can contribute to their attack next season.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough are also in line to receive £1 million from Young Boys following an agreement for Sene.

The Senegal forward made 28 league appearances for the Championship side last season, but only started on five occasions, scoring twice.

Boro signed him from Swiss side Lausanne-Sport, and he is now on his way back to Switzerland to join rivals Young Boys.

Middlesbrough fans are happy to see the club’s transfer activity pick up some pace, with more signings and outgoings being confirmed this week.

Some supporters are hoping that more players will be shown the exit door in the final weeks of the window.

Fans are impressed at the sales of Sene and Burgzorg, and are excited at the shape the squad is now taking ahead of the season starting.

However, Burgzorg will be missed by some Boro fans, even if they feel the £2 million deal is good business.

The pair were clearly on the fringe of Hellberg’s squad, and it’s questionable how much they would’ve played next season had they stayed.

So bringing in some money to ship them out after they had been unable to make much of an impact is great work from the club.

The Middlesbrough squad is now taking shape and, even with the departure of Hackney, fans have every reason to be excited for the year ahead.
