FLW's Middlesbrough fan pundit has urged the club to sign former Bolton Wanderers loanee Amario Cozier-Duberry this summer

Middlesbrough are having a truly incredible summer window, as the Teesside outfit backs Swedish head coach Kim Hellberg and goes all out to secure that elusive promotion to the Premier League.

It's been nearly a decade of second-tier football for Middlesbrough, and having come so close to securing their return to the Premier League last time around, the Teesside outfit is doing everything they can to ensure they don't fall short once again next time around.

Owner Steve Gibson has backed Hellberg and then some so far, completing the additions of Myles Peart Harris on a free transfer from Oxford United, Kyle Joseph from Hull City for £5 million, Sebastian Berhalter from Vancouver Whitecaps for £1.5 million, Max Arfsten from Columbus Crew for £5.6 million, and Will Lankshear for an initial £10 million, rising to a potential £20 million.

However, they're not done there, with Radek Vitek closing in on an initial £7 million, rising to £14 million move from Manchester United, whilst Ashley Phillips edges closer to completing an initial £7 million, potentially rising to £20 million move from Tottenham Hotspur.

Boro supporters likely cannot believe what they are witnessing, but with hopes and ambitions through the roof, they will naturally be hoping for even more before the deadline.

Speaking to Football League World's Middlesbrough fan pundit, Liam Day, we asked them to name one player they would love Boro to sign this summer that hasn't yet been linked with the club, as they name-dropped a former Bolton Wanderers loan star.

Liam told FLW: "I think [Amario] Cozier-Duberry from Brighton would be a really exciting one.

"You look at him alone at Bolton last season, and he was a player who created something out of nothing on the right wing, which is the position I feel like we need to address.

"Morgan Whittaker, whilst technically okay, a good player, obviously scored goals for us last season when he was on it. I don't think there's much threat around the team.

"We need a bit of pace. You need a bit of directness. You need someone who will bring the energy and run back up and run back out, and I don't think Morgan Whittaker gives that.

"I feel like Cozier-Duberry might do a bit more, and he is also a similar type to Whittaker, where he can score a goal out of nothing really. It seemed like so many times last season he just cut inside and shot.

"It seems like there's a chance he may go out on loan, and I hope Boro are one of the clubs looking at him."

Cozier-Duberry, 21, excelled on loan in League One for Bolton last season, and played a crucial role under Steven Schumacher as the side from Greater Manchester finally secured their return to the second tier after seven years away.

The winger, who came through the youth system with Arsenal before joining Brighton in 2024, scored eight and grabbed ten assists in 34 games for the Trotters last campaign, announcing himself as one of the finest wide prospects in the EFL.

Now, the Englishman has been the subject of interest from Rangers and Anderlecht, with the latter having a £5 million bid rejected earlier this window.

He and Brighton have been in discussions this summer regarding his future, as with two years remaining on his deal, there are multiple avenues this could go down.

However, should the Seagulls allow him to leave again this summer, either permanently or on loan, Boro have been tipped to be a contender, though they will surely face intense competition for his services in any case.

It's been an incredible summer for Boro so far, and should they complete those deals for Vitek and Phillips, it's hard to consider them as anything other than automatic promotion contenders.

Hellberg got Boro playing some scintillating stuff last season, and having now been backed more than any other manager in the club's recent history, has the opportunity to take them to the next level.

Cozier-Duberry, as competition for Whittaker on the right flank, would be an incredible addition, with the young winger clearly ready to make the jump to the Championship.

With around three weeks until the window slams shut, this summer has the chance to get even better for Middlesbrough, and Cozier-Duberry's addition would be the cherry on the cake.
