Midfielder praises Corinthians fans in London, eyes Arsenal clash

Last Wednesday (28), Corinthians secured a spot in the final of the Copa das Campeãs – Women's Club World Cup – by defeating Gotham FC from the United States at the Gtech Community Stadium, with a score of 1-0, the goal scored by midfielder Gabi Zanotti in the final stretch of the second half. Speaking to Corinthians TV, midfielder Ana Vitória, who made her re-debut wearing the Brabas jersey, commented on the presence of the Fiel (Corinthians fans) in the stands at Brentford's stadium.

“It was a magical moment. It was funny because, even on the field, I could hear the fans shouting ‘Let’s go!’, and that gave us an incredible energy. In fact, everyone admired it; they had never seen anything like it. A crowd that sings, jumps, and cheers for the entire hundred minutes of the game. Everyone was impressed by what they saw”, she began.

Later, she looked ahead to the final of the international tournament against Arsenal, at the Emirates Stadium, at 3pm (Brasília time), and left a message for the Corinthians fans: “They asked me about the expectations for the fans on Sunday. As you know, the final will be at their home (at the Emirates Stadium), with a full house and all that. But I replied: ‘Look, the stadium can be as packed as it wants, I’m sure the Fiel will make more noise and for much longer’. Fiel never rests! (laughs).”

“Fiel, first of all, thank you so much for all the support in the last game — both to those who were at the stadium and those cheering from afar. Now, I humbly ask that you keep giving us that same support, because we’re really going to need you“, she concluded.

For her part, speaking to Cazé TV, she preferred to leave the favoritism to the Gunners and spoke about the physical strength of the English team: “Let them talk about favoritism. I even prefer that they put the responsibility on themselves. They can keep doubting us, because we only need to believe in ourselves and for the Brazilian nation to believe in us. We’re going to work hard to, once again, play a great game. It’s a very physically strong team, very fast, very intense, and also very technical. It’s a very good team, it’s no wonder they’re here in the final with us. But it’s also no wonder that we’re here. I think it’s going to be a great match”, she said.

In 58 matches for Corinthians, with her first stint in 2017 and 2018, Ana Vitória scored eight goals and provided three assists – 44 wins, nine draws, and five losses – an 81.03% success rate. In addition, she won: Conmebol Libertadores Femenina (2017) and the Brasileirão (2018). Before returning to the Brabas, she played for Benfica (Portugal), PSG (France), and Atlético de Madrid (Spain).
