Midfielder reunites with Corinthians, grateful for the club

Midfielder Gabriel, currently at Red Bull Bragantino and who played for Corinthians between 2017 and 2022, gave an exclusive interview to Itatiaia and spoke about his affectionate relationship with the club, emphasizing that the institution is in his heart: “My relationship is the best possible. It’s a club that, I don’t hide from anyone, I have enormous affection for.”

“Because of my history, everything I experienced there, the connection I had with the club and the fans. That’s inside my heart, it’s in the history, I’ll carry it for the rest of my life,” he began. This year, the midfielder faced Corinthians twice, the last time being on November 5th, during the 32nd round of the Brasileirão, when Massa Bruta won 2-1.

Gabriel arrived at Corinthians at the beginning of 2017 after two seasons playing for Palmeiras, where he won the Copa do Brasil in 2015 and the Brasileirão in 2016. In his very first year at Parque São Jorge, he won the Campeonato Paulista and the Brasileirão. In these achievements, the midfielder was a regular starter and an essential piece in the team led by Fábio Carille.

In 2018 and 2019, although not always a starter, he was part of the campaigns that won the state titles against Palmeiras and São Paulo, respectively. In 238 matches wearing the Corinthians shirt (105 wins, 69 draws, and 64 losses), he scored eight goals and provided two assists. At the start of the 2022 season, the midfielder left Alvinegro and transferred to Internacional, where he played in 2022 and 2023. At the beginning of 2024, he moved to Athletico-PR and, in 2025, began playing for the team from Bragança Paulista.

Given this, Gabriel was asked what it’s like to face Corinthians again, highlighting the nearly six years he spent at the club: “It’s always a special and different feeling to face Corinthians, since I spent almost six years there, and we live each day intensely. If you think about it, six years is quite a long time. So, I’m happy with the results we achieved in the Brasileirão, we needed those wins against Corinthians. But they were tough, hard-fought matches. I tried to give my best for Red Bull, fighting for every ball, for the win. That’s in my essence. When I put on the shirt, it’s for real, from the heart,” he concluded.
