According to Glorioso 1904, NOS chief executive Miguel Almeida said at a press conference that the Benfica agreement has been extended by two years to 2028, in line with the centralisation planned by the Liga de Clubes.
He argued the issue dates back to 2015, when NOS struck a 10-year deal with Sport Lisboa e Benfica running from 2016 to 2026, which ends at the close of this season.
He characterised the latest move as a straightforward extension of the existing contract, with a cost increase below inflation and no fresh rationale beyond the logic set in 2015.
Almeida linked the timetable to when centralisation is expected to take effect, noting the new end date sits alongside that process.
He added that NOS has been involved in SportTV for 25 years and sees no reason to leave, saying the company is comfortable with its current participation and does not intend to increase or reduce it.
