Atlético de Madrid chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has renewed a fierce attack on Barcelona over the Julián Álvarez affair, making clear the club will not enter talks for the Argentina forward.
According to Superdeporte, he spoke after the Champions League draw. Relations between the clubs have spiked again following Barcelona's latest remarks about the player.
Gil Marín said Álvarez is going through a difficult spell and has been misled and confused by some people. He described the striker as a top professional and person and stressed Atlético's intention is for him to stay.
He aimed his strongest criticism at Barcelona, accusing them of falseness and a lack of ethics, transparency and professionalism. He added that, while he remains chief executive, Álvarez will not be transferred to Barcelona.
Should Álvarez feel he cannot continue in Madrid, Atlético would examine alternatives, but a move to Barcelona is categorically off the table for the board.
