Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has shared his thoughts on the return of defender Khuliso Mudau to competitive action.

The right-back entered the fray as a second half substitute during the midweek one-all draw with Marumo Gallants to make his first appearance of the 2025/26 campaign.

Mudau was not part of the team since the start of the season following a stand-off with the club after attracting interest from the Gulf region and North Africa, among others.

Now, with the two parties understood to be in active negotiations over an improved deal at Chloorkop, the Bafana international is back in contention, much to the delight of Cardoso.

“Khuliso joined the team two weeks ago, he hasn’t been having training sessions for a long time, but he has been training very well,” said the Portuguese mentor.

“We know what game time we can give to Khuliso, we know what we can do in terms of managing him. Obviously, having him on the bench in the moment that Zuko [Mdunyelwa] is injured, is important, also to manage Thapelo [Morena], who has been playing almost all our last matches.

“His [Mudau] performance was normal, I expected that in the moment he entered the pitch he would bring new energy on the right wing.

Meanwhile, Masandawana will welcome newly promoted Durban City in their next Betway Premiership outing at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
