Mikel Arteta said he learnt of Arsenal's Premier League title from his eldest son after choosing not to watch Manchester City's 1-1 draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday that sealed it.

According to L'Équipe, the Arsenal manager told Thursday's press conference he went home, stepped into the garden and lit a barbecue instead of putting the game on.

He then heard commotion from the living room before his eldest ran outside in tears, hugged him and told him they were champions. Arteta called it one of the best feelings he had ever experienced.

With Sunday's final league match at Crystal Palace at 17:00 carrying no stakes, the Spaniard offered an update nine days before the Champions League final against PSG. Mikel Merino will train with the group on Friday, and he hopes Jurrien Timber can do likewise in the coming days, though he is a little behind Merino.

Arteta added that he would like to join the season celebrations planned in London the day after the final with two major trophies rather than one.
