Milan and Inter are looking for roster continuity and are trying to set up some meaningful extension. The Nerazzurri are planning to move on from a few veterans but instead aim to lock down Yann Aurel Bisseck and Carlos Augusto, Mediaset reports.
The German defender has become a regular starter, supplanting Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij. He came in with a €750k salary and then touched it up to €1.5M annually. He might soon obtain a further €1M bump. Instead, the Brazilian international could reach the € 3M-per-year threshold. The talks are ongoing but have been mostly preliminary so far.
While Inter are looking to retain two rotational pieces, Milan wish to prolong the contract of their signature player, Rafael Leao. Despite a lingering injury and his usual inconsistency, he is having another respectable campaign, having notched 9 goals and 2 assists in 20 appearances.
His deal runs out in 2028. The Rossoneri are seeking a two-year extension. According to Matteo Moretto (via Tuttomercatoweb), the officials have proposed a renewal but not a pay rise at this stage. The parties are in touch. The management would like to put pen to paper before the end of the season to have more leverage to decide what to do in the summer.
The new Leao contract would be noteworthy only if he got higher wages, as it’d raise the bar internally in that sense. Absent that, it’d be a fairly odd if he accepted. Augusto is one to keep an eye on as well. He’d be a starter on almost every side, but he’s stuck behind arguably the best left-back in the world right now. He’d evidently be fine with the role if he re-upped.
