Roma and Milan are working through the night to get a deal in place for Tammy Abraham’s transfer to San Siro in exchange for Alexis Saelemaekers, but it could be just two loans.
The negotiations had stalled badly this morning and it seemed as if there would not be an agreement in time to beat the transfer deadline.
However, Fabrizio Romano and Calciomercato.com are both confident that the clubs got back together and found a way through the impasse.
The discussion was over the fee that Milan would have to pay in addition to the Saelemaekers contract.
The Rossoneri had initially been hoping to get it done for €7m, but it would appear they managed to bump it up to €10m including some performance-related bonuses.
An even bigger surprise emerged, suggesting they managed to resolve the stalled situation by making it a pure exchange of loans, so with no extra expense and no transfer fees.
Abraham had also been heavily linked with West Ham United over the summer, but was believed to be a specific request from new Milan coach Paulo Fonseca.
As for Saelemaekers, the winger returned from a loan spell at Bologna.
