Milan boss Ruben Amorim takes sly shot at Italian media | OneFootball

Serie A side Milan take on Lecce at the San Siro today. Manager Ruben Amorim has found himself in a spot of bother with the media in recent days and he has now taken a bit of a shot at the Italian press.

In a press conference earlier this week, the Portuguese was embroiled in a rather friendly debate with a journalist about his squad selection. He accused him of changing his preferred line-up for Milan, especially after the frustrations around the loss to Benfica. 

Amorim also admitted that selecting the best team is indeed his best job but it is increasingly clear that his communication has left some confused.

He spoke to DAZN before the Lecce tie and was asked if he can improve his communication. He indicated that apart from him, many others – like the media, need to improve too.

He said – via MilanNews: “Sometimes it’s good. We need to evolve; people aren’t stupid and they appreciate the truth. But sometimes I get into trouble (laughs). We all need to improve our communication skills.”

Amorim also indicated that he could consider being more flexible in his system, which hasn’t exactly been changing in recent weeks.

He said: “We’ll try. If you look at our team, sometimes we start looking for the right positions; we need to be more fluid. In some sections, Lazio, Torino, and Venezia, we saw this fluidity, but we need to work on it and do better.”

There have been murmurs in the Italian press that not everyone in the squad has been happy with Amorim’s dealing of the squad. His usage of Luka Modric has also raised question marks and his selection of several other players in the side has also caught attention.
