The main summer priority for Milan will be to find a new elite striker, and Alexander Sorloth could emerge as a more attainable target than the others they have been tracking so far. Atletico Madrid demand a hefty fee for now, but they could be more lenient if they found a strong replacement, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.
The Norwegian marksman is having a solid campaign, but he’s not a surefire starter nor untouchable for Diego Simeone. The coach wouldn’t mind a more physical option. Conversely, the 30-year-old would like to have a starring role.
Atletico Madrid currently ask for €40M for Sorloth, but Milan are confident his price tag will decrease significantly if he has a so-so end of the season and World Cup and the counterparty snags a better center-forward. He was acquired from Villarreal for €32M in 2024. He has notched 41 goals and 3 assists in 101 appearances with Los Rojiblancos. The journeyman also spent time at Real Sociedad, RB Leipzig, Trabzonspor, and Gent, among other teams, earlier in his career.
The Rossoneri have been attached to Robert Lewandowski and Dusan Vlahovic, mostly because their agents are canvassing the market for alternative landing posts. However, both command salaries well above their standards. The Pole could still re-up with Barcelona or go to the MLS. Juventus postponed the talks with their star to the end of the campaign.
It’s early to seriously consider the fallbacks, as sound as they might be. The two potential free agents have always been long shots for them, as they are stingier on wages and commissions than other sides. Still, there are several younger and more enticing options out there.
