Milan are working with Jorge Mendes to find a suitable solution for Rafael Leao, and the idea of a trade involving another of his clients, Ruben Dias, has been broached. The deal is far from easy. The Rossoneri would have to add a conspicuous sum to make it happen, Mediaset reported.
The Italian side are scouring the market for a new center-back, and the Portuguese star would be a high-end solution. He transferred to England from Benfica for €71M back in 2020 and has amassed 256 appearances since. He took home the Premier League four times and the UEFA Champions League once, among several trophies.
Milan will assess whether swapping Leao for Dias is really viable in the coming days. Selling the former well is quickly becoming their main priority. He has put the offers from Galatasaray and the Saudi Pro League on the back burner to wait for more enticing proposals.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri remain determined to pocket €60M from the departure of the forward. The Turkish team has tendered more than €40M but has come shy of the request. Mendes spent six hours at their HQ upon completing the Diego Moreira signing. Their officials are confident the representative will bring good offers. They won’t rush the process.
It seems to be an improbable proposition, also due to the defender’s wages, but they have certainly thrown their weight around economically speaking this summer. That’s the caliber of player they should pursue to lift their rearguard. While their stance on the mercurial forward is understandable, time is running out, and keeping him would be more harm than good.
