There is reassuring news for Milan, as Davide Bartesaghi’s injury is less serious than previously thought, while Santiago Gimenez is also back for the derby with Inter.

The Rossoneri are the only team keeping up the pace with runaway Serie A leaders Inter, and the two rivals go head-to-head this Sunday in the Derby della Madonnina.

It is possible that Max Allegri will be able to prepare for it with a full squad at his disposal, because the treatment room is emptying out.

Milan injury news is reassuring

Bartesaghi limped off clutching the back of his right thigh during the final minutes of Milan’s win away to Cremonese, an injury he sustained while winning the decisive corner.

According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, today’s tests showed there is no lesion to the flexor in the right thigh.

That means Bartesaghi should be back in full training towards the end of the week, so could in theory even start against Inter on Sunday night.

More positive news also came from Gimenez, the striker who has been out of action since the end of October with an ankle injury that eventually required surgery.

The recovery process has been slower than expected, but a check-up today with his surgeon confirmed the Mexico international has fully healed, and can resume training with the rest of the squad.
