Milan transfer target Alvaro Morata admits he’s ‘happier’ outside Spain, where there is ‘no respect for anything or anyone.’

Spain international Morata admits he’s happier outside his home country.

A former Juventus striker, Morata has been heavily linked with a move to Milan. A recent report from Sky Sport Italia claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is working closely to bring the Spaniard to San Siro this summer.

“I’m not unhappy, not at all. But it’s true that in Spain I find it very difficult to be happy,” Moraa said in an interview with El Mundo.

The interview was published before Ibrahimovic joined Paulo Fonseca for his first press conference as the new Milan coach on Monday morning.

Both Ibra and Fonseca said they have clear ideas about who the next Milan striker would be, and Morata’s interview appears to suggest that he would consider a move abroad.

“I am often happy, but other times it is difficult for me. It is my personality, I am like that, it is difficult for me,” the striker admitted.

“When I get home I am always super happy, but in front of people, I feel as if I were naked, and maybe that has not allowed me to give everything. It is often very difficult to be in Spain.”

Does it mean that he’s happier abroad?

“Yes, definitely. I have said it many times. Above all, because people respect me. In Spain, there is no respect for anything or anyone.”

Morata has two years left in his contract with Atletico Madrid, but he has a €13m release clause, which Milan are ready to trigger.

Morata scored 21 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions with Atletico Madrid last season.
