Milan have reportedly agreed to send striker Luka Romero to Spanish side Almeria on loan, as there could be no deal with Boca Juniors over the formula of the transfer.
Romero had wanted to join Boca Juniors, the club he supported since childhood, but multiple sources report the Argentina giants were eager to get him with an option to buy.
Instead, Milan are determined to keep hold of him for the future and therefore preferred the plain six-month loan to Almeria.
He is expected to fly in for his medical tests on Monday and can then sign the paperwork.
The 19-year-old versatile striker was born in Mexico and raised in Argentina, then moved to Spain at an early age for the Formentera youth academy.
He came up through the Mallorca system and joined Lazio for just €200,000 in the summer of 2021.
Once that contract had expired, Romero moved to Milan as a free agent in 2023, but was given just five appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season.
