Reports in Italy claim that Milan have finally come to a decision over their next permanent CEO and sporting director after going almost a full month without a senior management structure in place.
Milan dismissed head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani all in one statement the day after the disappointing 2025-26 season came to an end.
Several candidates have been linked with moves to take over the sporting sector in Milan, but according to reports from various outlets in Italy, the Rossoneri have now taken the decision to promote from within.
It is believed that Gerry Cardinale will take on a more hands-on, operational role within the club set-up and that head coach Amorim will have an influence in the club’s transfer decision-making.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and various others, Massimo Calvelli will take over as the club’s new CEO. Calvelli joined the board of directors last summer and has previously served as RedBird Capital’s CEO international and as CEO of the ATP before that.
Milan are also set to promote Hendrick Almstadt to a more prominent role taking charge of decisions on the transfer window, although he is expected to be given a title along the lines of ‘head of player trading’ rather than sporting director.
Almstadt will be supported by Bobby Gardiner, who will be promoted to the role of director of football intelligence according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Rossoneri will also seek to appoint a new head of recruitment analysis. And once that role is filled, the club’s transfer window is finally set to get underway.
