Despite a return to form, Milan will have some housecleaning to do at the end of the season. Their front office might undergo meaningful modifications, Calciomercato reports.
The Rossoneri hired Igli Tare after their attempt for Fabio Paratici fell through because of his suspension. The ex-Lazio exec completed some profitable sales, for instance, Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United for €40M and Theo Hernandez to Al-Hilal for €20M, solving some problems.
Things haven’t gone as well as far as their signings are concerned. The Ardon Jashari deal took forever, and he hasn’t panned out so far. Milan also haven’t gotten a proper return on their big investments in Christopher Nkunku and Pervis Estupinan. CEO Giorgio Furlani, who had taken a step to the side, was more involved in January. He personally brokered the acquisition of Jean-Philippe Mateta, but it collapsed due to his knee problems.
The Rossoneri will have to clarify the roles behind the scenes, also to appease Massimiliano Allegri, who might bolt if things get too messy. The coach also feels like his advice hasn’t been followed. The San Siro-based team will appoint another apical official, Massimo Calvelli, but he’ll handle the financial and business side. Furlani will continue to be the CEO, but it’s not so certain Tare will retain his position if the divergencies continue.
He’s made his mistakes, but onboarding a sporting director should have straightened things out after some tumultuous years. It doesn’t appear to have been the case, even though they have been able to hide it for the most part. A shake-up could be in order. They should make sure not to irk Allegri to the point that he’ll actually consider stepping down.
