Milan player ratings vs. Venezia: Another top performer beyond Ramos | OneFootball

Gonçalo Ramos wasn’t the only top Milan performer in Friday’s 2-0 win over Venezia, as Alexis Saelemaekers also collected high grades from Italian sports papers.

Milan secured a home 2-0 victory against Venezia at San Siro on Friday, in the opening match of Serie A Round 2 and their first competitive match at San Siro this term.

Ramos opened the account in the second half, after wasting three big chances before the break.

The Portuguese attacker is one of the highest-rated Milan players in Italian sports papers this morning, but other performers caught the eye against Venezia, especially Mario Gila in defence and Saelemaekers up front.

The latter was introduced at minute 59 to replace Alphadjo Cissè and was involved in both Milan goals. The Belgium international provided the assist for Ramos’ opener and set up Ardon Jashari, who wasted his chance but was still rewarded by Redouane Halhal’s own goal on the rebound.

Arguably, according to Italian newspapers, the most disappointing Milan player was English midfielder Loftus-Cheek, who was replaced just before the hour mark by Adrien Rabiot. “Playing as a right attacking midfielder, he was unable to impose his physicality,” Gazzetta wrote about RLC.
