Milan President promises further action after Bologna call: ‘Significant problems’ | OneFootball

Milan President Paolo Scaroni is still ‘furious’ at the decision to postpone the Serie A match against Bologna originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, as he promises to ‘dedicate’ himself to the matter after a controversial call from the local authorities.

The Serie A fixture between Bologna and Milan was officially postponed last Friday after flooding in the Emilia-Romagna region. The Rossoneri had been keen to get the game on, and had made arrangements in four different cities as they had anticipated the match being played at a neutral venue before the decision to postpone.

Milan will now have a game in hand, likely until the end of February, and as a result of the postponement, star players Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders will still be suspended for the box-office midweek clash against Napoli on Tuesday night.

Milan President hints at compensation for damages after ‘significant problems’ caused

Scaroni, who spoke outside Milan’s annual shareholders meeting on Monday evening, hinted that he will look to take further action against the decision to postpone the Bologna match.

He suggested that Milan could seek compensation for damages, as not playing the Vologna game until February will cause ‘significant problems’ for the Rossoneri.

“All decisions like this, made by the public authorities, have to be questioned over the legitimacy of the decision, especially when it is not clear why we could not have played behind closed doors, it’s incomprehensible,” The Milan President said on Monday.

“The other thing that is unfair, it’s not clear why football couldn’t go ahead, but other events could. This opens the door to questioning the legitimacy of the decision and us entering the world of compensation for damages.

“The damage caused for us is difficult to quantify, but not playing the game until February causes a significant problem for us. We are looking into the issue.

“I am furious, and when I am furious, I’m active, not passive. I will dedicate myself to it.”
