Milan had a busy Wednesday as, in addition to Marcus Rashford, they touched base with the camp of Reda Belahyane, who’s been on their wish list to shore up the midfielder for a couple of months, Calciomercato relays.
Hellas Verona are open for business and want at least €10M for their prospect. He has broken out this season under Paolo Zanetti. The Rossoneri are tussling with Olympique Marseille and Lazio. Instead, Inter are eyeing him for the future. The bidding war fuels his team’s demands. The Scaligeri paid just €500k to sign him, so they’ll profit big anyway.
Sergio Conceiçao has signed off on an addition, and Milan are particularly keen on Belahyane because he wouldn’t need to be inserted in the Serie A list given his age. Therefore, they don’t need to part ways with anybody to field him.
In the meantime, their new boss can count on two players who just recuperated from injury, Ismael Bennacer and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. He’s flexible tactically, but a three-man line could be the starting point. Their availability will help in that respect.
If their own contributors stay healthy, they have decent depth and a sound assortment of skills. Following the returns, the main hole is somebody with the same traits as Youssouf Fofana. The Verona prodigy isn’t that at the moment, but he has an all-around skillset, can still be molded position-wise and isn’t far off, as he stands out more for his contribution in the defensive phase.
