Serie A side Milan have now made their first summer move exactly a day after having announced Ruben Amorim as the new manager, with a deal for Birmingham City’s Aurelian Guernier nearing completion.
Their interest in winger had emerged yesterday evening. It did raise some eyebrows but progress has quickly been made.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that talks between Milan and Birmingham City are in the final stages. There is also a chance that the 18-year-old flies in to Italy later today and completes the deal after undergoing medical tests.
The youngster was yet to play for the Birmingham City first-team but for their U21s side, he scored three times in 15 games. He is expected to initially ply his trade with the Primavera before moving to the first-team.
It is not a matter of chance that this information comes right after it emerged that Milan will not sign Markus Krosche as their technical director.
This suggests there is no real sporting vision in place and despite that, signings are being made. That is a red flag for the club’s supporters, who may not see Guernier play for the first-team anytime soon.
