Milan Skriniar is not expected to join Benfica this summer, with the Fenerbahçe defender content at his club and no formal offers on the table.

According to Glorioso 1904, Skriniar is viewed at Benfica as a dream target and a transfer is considered unlikely at this stage. Fenerbahçe have no intention of losing a key player. The 31-year-old joined in summer 2025 for about seven million euros.

Benfica remain in the market for a centre-back, with Clément Lenglet currently the most probable addition. The Frenchman fits the profile sought after recent changes in the back line.

Speculation around Skriniar grew after Rui Costa’s remarks at the club’s General Assembly. Asked whether the reinforcement would be José María Giménez or the Slovakia international, he said only that it was not Giménez, without confirming or denying Skriniar.

Another link is Mário Branco, now Benfica’s general manager for football. He worked at Fenerbahçe when Skriniar arrived and was involved in the negotiations for the defender under José Mourinho.
