Antonio Conte was in the stands for this evening’s match between Milan and Benfica, as a Ruben Amorim problem becomes all too obvious with the statistics.

The Europa League fixture kicked off at 20.00 UK time (21.00 CEST).

The Rossoneri were jeered as they went into the half-time break trailing 1-0 to a goal from Dodi Lukebakio, with the pressure already building on coach Amorim.

It will not have helped his mood that Conte was spotted in the stands at San Siro, the coach being a free agent after walking away from Napoli in the summer.

Conte has been linked with a possible move to the Rossoneri over the last few months, even though he has history with their rivals Inter and Juventus.

There were also rumours he had been approached by Juve for a return or even Manchester United.

The statistics paint a worrying picture for Amorim, because the Rossoneri have failed to score in the first half of any of his five matches in charge.

While the coach has been praised for turning things around with smart second half substitutions, it’s also fair to assume this means he has never got the right starting XI.

A bizarre statistic shows that all but one of Milan’s goals in the opening four Serie A rounds were scored during a five-minute spell from the 64th minute to the 69th.

The only outlier was an own goal from Venezia’s Redouane Halhal at the 89th.
