Milan have quickly shortlisted players who thrived under Ruben Amorim, in particular Morten Hjulmand and Francisco Trincao, but they’ll have to wait to delve into the transfer market, as directors Markus Krosche and Timmo Hardung won’t be joining after all.
According to Mediaset, Eintracht Frankfurt stiffened up because of the timing of their pursuit and asked for a €10M compensation. The former would have enjoyed a 40 percent raise in Italy, but he ultimately didn’t force his way out too aggressively. The Rossoneri are back in the market for some officials, with Devin Ozek and Flamengo’s José Boto at the forefront of their search. The latter was at Benfica when the Portuguese coach was still playing.
Milan could endure several big exits, and Hjulmand and Trincao are the first two prospective replacements in their crosshairs, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. The midfielder has been linked to a few top clubs since leaving Lecce, including Manchester United, but none have been successful. He has an €80M release clause. The attacker has recorded 47 goals and 51 assists in 208 games with Sporting CP.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rafael Leao remains likely to leave after the coaching change. The boss has suggested PSG’s Gonçalo Ramos to address their offensive woes.
It’s too early for concrete targets since they are embarrassingly late with their hires. The departures will give them a clear idea of what they’ll have to do. If neither Luka Modric nor Adrien Rabiot stays, bolstering the midfield will climb the leaderboard of their priorities, but the Dane has proven to be hard to catch for many sides in recent windows.
