Joaquin Panichelli’s agent had confirmed interest from Milan, but any negotiations for the RC Strasbourg striker stopped when he suffered a serious knee injury.
The forward had been on international duty with Argentina when he was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during a training session.
He is the current top scorer in Ligue 1 with 16 goals and was all set to feature for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, USA and Mexico.
However, Panichelli is now going to be out of action for circa five to six months after this setback.
His agent Martin Gastadisegno confirmed in October that Milan had been “following him for some time” and were interested in a potential summer move.
They will now have to look elsewhere, as it is not clear when Panichelli will be back in action after this serious injury.
Milan were seeking a centre-forward after missing Santiago Gimenez for several months due to surgery.
