Perhaps one of the most fiercely fought Madrid derbies of recent times ended in a 1-1 draw as Atletico Madrid managed to score an equaliser in the dying moments against Real Madrid.
Fede Valverde, Éder Militão, and Vinicius were the standout players in this fixture, with each of them playing an important role in this match.
The following ratings reflect how the Real Madrid players fared in this game.
Player ratings:
Thibaut Courtois: 7.5
The Belgian was at his best on the night. Kept out some difficult shots from the Atletico attackers while also dealing with the rowdy fans behind his goal. Unlucky to not have kept a cleansheet.
Dani Carvajal: 7.0
Solid in defence despite being beaten at the back on a two occasions. Combined well with Rodrygo and Fede Valverde on the right and also made some well-timed overlapping runs.
Antonio Rüdiger. 7.0
Would be disappointed for losing his focus in the final few minutes, which eventually led to the equaliser. Otherwise, no-nonsense defending from the German, doing well against a potent Atletico attack.
Eder Militao: 8.5
An absolutely brilliant display from the Brazilian. He has really picked up form in the last few games and everyone in the club would be delighted. Scored a great volley and kept Atleti’s front line at bay throughout the game.
Ferland Mendy: 6.5
An average outing for the Frenchman. Lost possession in dangerous positions which could have proven to be costly and barely offered anything on the attacking front.
Aurelien Tchouaméni: 7.0
A rather quiet performance. Defensively did his job well but would have liked to be in better positions while playing and receiving passes. Won his duels, and except for one brainfade moment in midfield, held his ground.
Luka Modric: 7.5
Showed why he is one of the best midfielders to ever play the game. Did not get overrun by the Atleti midfield this time around and even went on to toy with the opponents midfielders for a few moments in the match.
Fede Valverde: 8.0
A performance Toni Kroos would be proud of as the Uruguayan repped the number 8 jersey yet again. Almost scored twice in the first half as his long range effort and free kick were not far away. Put in a shift in the defence as well and offered support to the forward line on occasion.
Jude Bellingham: 7.5
Yet another mesmerising performance from the midfielder. Held his ground at the Metropolitano, doing well in tight spaces and on a few occasions – being a goal-scoring threat as well. Looked gutted post-match after the draw.
Rodrygo: 6.0
Did not do much throughout the game. Had just 1 shot on goal and even that was off target. Seems like he does better with Kylian Mbappe on the pitch – who will not be back for the next 3 weeks. Looked really lost up front.
Vinícius Júnior: 7.5
The Brazilian was unable to score a goal but managed an assist against their city rivals despite being abused and having racist abuses hurled at him prior to the game. Kept his cool and came close in second half to double the lead too.
Substitutes:
Lucas Vazquez: 6.0
Surprise inclusion into the game and was brought on for extra legs in defence but was nowhere to be found when Los Blancos conceded. But kept his cool while having the ball.
Endrick: 6.0
Almost scored another long range stunner but this time it was wide and it could be argued that the Brazilian could have made the final pass to Jude Bellingham instead of taking the shot himself.
Fran García: N/A
Just had 6 touches and drew a foul from Marcos Llorente which led to the Atleti player receiving a red card. But not enough time to warrant a rating.
