Millwall's Femi Azeez is attracting Premier League interest, but could his potential replacement be ready and waiting at West Brom?

Crystal Palace are reportedly rivalling the likes of Leeds United, Brentford, Everton, Brighton, Fulham, and Sunderland for Millwall winger, Femi Azeez.

According to TEAMtalk, the 24-year-old has caught the eye for all the right reasons for Millwall this season, and it appears as though his strong performances haven't gone unnoticed ahead of the summer transfer window.

Azeez has chipped in with an already impressive goal contributions tally for the Lions this term, and the winger has played a starring role in Millwall's push for promotion into the Premier League.

They'll have ambitions of finishing in the automatic promotion places, but if Millwall fall short in their efforts, promotion via the play-offs still remains a possibility.

The Millwall supporters will be dreaming of winning promotion into the top-flight, and if they do, they'll want Azeez to stick around at The Den for the foreseeable future.

Azeez signed for Millwall back in 2024 from Reading for an undisclosed fee, and it's safe to say that he's adjusted well to the move to London.

There were previously doubts from Reading supporters about his ability to perform at his best consistently, but the Westminster-born winger has shown his quality frequently for Millwall, particularly this season.

If Azeez was to leave the club this summer amid interest from Premier League teams, there's no doubting that it would leave a sizeable void in the Millwall team, but there are plenty of options they could turn to for a potential replacement.

Mikey Johnston should be top of Millwall's wishlist

One of those that should be top of Millwall's wishlist this summer is West Brom winger, Mikey Johnston. The Irish international has been one of the rare bright sparks in a massively disappointing season for the Baggies, as they struggle to stay afloat in their efforts to avoid relegation into League One this season.

Johnston has been with the club since 2024, and is contracted at The Hawthorns until the summer of 2028. However, it'll be interesting to see whether there is a relegation clause in his contract, as that could heighten interest in his services from other clubs.

The 26-year-old has nine assists to his name so far this season, although it's unlikely that he'll add to that tally, after suffering a stress fracture to his ankle in a game against Oxford United earlier this month.

His pace and trickery on the ball make him a defender's nightmare, and that's exactly the sort of player that Millwall will need, regardless of which division they're playing their football in next term.

As per FotMob, Johnston ranks in the top percentile for a number of key winger assets: assists, expected assists, chances created, big chances created, successful crosses and dribble success. He also makes a high number of recoveries and tackles for a player that could be classed as luxury.

The numbers match up to what we have seen from Azeez in 2025/26, with the pair posting very similar numbers across the board. The difference, though, is that all this from Johnston comes in a team fighting at the opposite end of the table to Millwall.

Mikey Johnston deal could be relatively easy to complete

Johnston is obviously going to want to be playing at the highest possible level, and if West Brom are relegated into League One, then it's likely that he'll follow plenty of others out the door in the summer transfer window.

He's simply too good of an option to have in League One, and he deserves to be playing at a higher level. On his day, some will argue that he's a good option to have available in the Premier League, as his direct style of play can make him difficult to play against for opposition full-backs.

West Brom simply won't be able to have high wages on their books if they're playing in the third-tier next season, and with Johnston reportedly on wages of £12,500 per-week with the Baggies, the club will have to cut costs where they can, with Johnston being one of those potentially heading for the exit door.

If Millwall are ambitious about winning promotion into the Premier League and competing to a high standard in the top-flight, then Johnston is a player they should be targeting at the earliest of opportunities. Even if Femi Azeez was to stick around at The Den, adding a player of Johnston's quality to their ranks should still be a priority this summer.

He's likely to be a player attracting interest from other clubs though, so Millwall should set their stall out early with him, as he's a player that could take them to the next level.
