Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek’s future is up in the air as he is attracting interest from the Championship.

The Czech keeper joined United in 2020 and won the FA Youth cup in 2022.

Loan success

The 21 year old has also gained valuable experience out on loan at Accrington Stanley during the 2023/2024 season.

He left English shores last season when he played top-tier football for FC Blau-Weiß Linz in Austria.

Vitek was impressive throughout the season, playing in 28 matches and keeping seven clean sheets for the Austrians.

Interest from other clubs

The Czech keeper has since returned to Old Trafford and is currently involved in first team training.

There were reports earlier in the summer that United had decided to sell the keeper to raise funds this window in spite of him being highly rated around Carrington.

The Sun newspaper now reports that “Millwall like the look of Manchester United’s out-of-favour keeper Radek Vitek.”

With the player back in Manchester it has been stated that he is “seeking a club to get minutes in the new campaign.”

The outlet claims that the “Lions are keen on Vitek but he would have to fight for a start at The Den.”

In addition, Millwall are not only interested in the United youngster but also have more experienced players on their radar.

The paper asserts that “boss Alex Neil is also eyeing alternatives such as experienced stopper Tim Krul, 37, to add competition in his Millwall squad.”

Former Everton keeper Joao Virginia is another option for the Championship side.

Does Andre Onana’s injury change anything?

The news broke yesterday that United’s controversial first choice keeper Onana picked up an injury that would keep him out of pre-season.

As a consequence, there have been rumours that Ruben Amorim’s side are closing in on Brazilian John Victor to provide long-term competition for the Cameroonian.

Onana’s injury probably means that Vitek will get more minutes in pre-season than he may have expected and he could fancy his chances of putting forward his name for a starting spot come the start of the season.

Vitek already has form as he impressed last pre-season when he made numerous outstanding stops versus Rosenborg BK in Norway.
