Femi Azeez has been in excellent form this season for Millwall, playing a key part in the Lions' promotion ambitions, though concerns of a summer exit have emerged.

The Lions remain in strong contention for a top-six finish this season despite their recent home defeat to Portsmouth on Saturday.

Indeed, it was a hugely disappointing result for the South Bermondsey outfit, who could have continued to close the gap to Coventry City and Middlesbrough in the top two.

Alex Neil has done an immense job at The Den since taking charge in December 2024, narrowly missing out on the top six last season and looking like a sure bet to right their wrongs this time around.

Key to their recent success has been the performances of English winger Femi Azeez, who has cemented himself as Millwall's talisman this campaign in an attack containing the likes of Mihailo Ivanovic, Camiel Neghli, Josh Coburn, and Thierno Ballo.

Should Millwall finally achieve that elusive promotion to the Premier League this season, Azeez will deserve a huge amount of credit for his role in the success.

Regardless of what division Millwall find themselves in next season, Azeez's electric performances may come at a cost.

Football League World Millwall's fan pundit, Lucas Ball, believes that the club could potentially cash in on Azeez this summer for a bumper fee whilst his stock is at its highest - although that would depend on what division the Lions find themselves in.

Lucas told FLW: "Honestly, I'm not sure. Obviously, Ipswich were interested in him, potentially one of the other clubs that go up if we weren't to would take a gamble. I don't see a team that's in the Premier League already coming in for him unless he has an even better end to the season, which, obviously, hopefully he does."His injury record at times is still probably a slight concern, although it's been better this year than last."But look, clear quality. He's obviously our talisman, and we're a much different side when he's in the team than when he's not. We rely on him to create a lot for us, and he got the assist for Macaulay Langstaff's winner at Sheffield Wednesday last week as well. He's a key man for us and had a really good season."Alex Neil's got the best out of him since he came in, generally. That was more on the left-hand side in the second half of last season when he was fit, but this season, it's much more on the right, which is where he was originally starting to play, and where I think he is as good as he is on the left as well. But it's nice to have that versatility, of course."Does he leave? I mean, maybe. I'm probably slightly more on the side no if we weren't to go up, because I think Ipswich, if they were to go up, could obviously come back in for him after their late attempt to sign him in January. Coventry or Middlesbrough, who knows? They could also be interested.

"Coventry have obviously got an abundance of attacking talent as it is, particularly out wide. I think Boro maybe slightly less so, but obviously a very good team as well. Off the back of this kind of season, and if it was selling to a club that had gone up, then I think I'd be wanting at least £20 million for him in truth."Look, the prices of players are ridiculous these days, and that feels slightly out there to say, maybe, but that's the truth of the inflation in football. He's incredibly valuable to us as a player, of course."I think we turned down bids of about £13m-14m, possibly nearing £15 million from Ipswich at the end of January. So that's the sort of thing that I'm sure we're looking for, and certainly the sort of thing that I'd be asking for if I were in the club's shoes."So, yeah, we'll have to see what happens and how we move forward, but fingers crossed, we just go up, and none of this is an issue."

Alex Neil will be desperate to keep Femi Azeez at Millwall beyond the summer window

It goes without question that no matter what division Millwall find themselves in next season, keeping Azeez at the club will be one of their top priorities.

As recently as January, Ipswich Town tested Millwall's resolve by submitting numerous bids for Azeez. Though the Lions stood firm on their stance on the winger, the likelihood of interest reemerging for the 24-year-old in the summer is high.

Having been signed from League One side Reading in the summer of 2024 for a fee in the region of £1 million, it looks to have been an exceptional piece of business by the London club.

Whether he can help to guide Millwall to the Premier League or whether he will be sold for an eight-figure sum, Azeez has been a hugely impressive pickup by the Lions, who will be hoping to go on and fire themselves to the top flight this campaign.
