"Mind boggling" Konate Liverpool contract saga still not close to being resolved

Liverpool reportedly still don’t seem close to resolving the future of Ibrahima Konate, with the situation described as “mind boggling” by journalist Lewis Steele.

Konate is close to being out of contract and becoming a free agent, with this saga dragging on for much of the last year or so, with no sign yet of a conclusion.

See below as Steele has been quoted as telling Anfield Index quite how baffling it has been for him to try to keep on top of what’s going on with the France international’s future…

“I don’t have a clue what’s going to happen with that to be honest because everyone says something different,” Steele said, adding that the situation is “mind boggling” and “nowhere near a conclusion”.

What else has been reported on Ibrahima Konate’s Liverpool future?

Fabrizio Romano recently reported for CaughtOffside that things were looking a bit more positive regarding LFC’s chances of keeping Konate.

“The player is open to continuing at Liverpool, but obviously it’s an important contract for his career, and so the conversation is going to continue with new contacts expected this month in April to take a final decision as soon as possible on the future of Ibrahima Konate regarding a potential move or a new contract,” Romano told us.

And yet, here we are and it seems we still don’t know for sure if this new deal is going to be agreed, with Steele sounding none the wiser about what’s going on.

CaughtOffside will continue to sound out sources and consult the top journalists in the industry in an effort to get the information to you as soon as possible, but this is a story that is clearly proving problematic for a lot of leading figures to get an answer on.
