Djibril Sidibé was knocked out late in Toulouse’s 3-0 defeat by Lens on Friday after a head clash with Ismaëlo Ganiou. He left the pitch conscious, wearing a neck brace, and was taken off on a stretcher.
Initial fears eased further on Saturday in Toulouse. The player said in a social media post that it was only a scare.
Toulouse are following the French federation’s concussion protocol after a suspected concussion. Club doctor Abdelkader Chetouani examined him immediately after the match, then re-evaluated him on Saturday morning, confirming a positive initial assessment.
The next step is a consultation with an FFF approved neurologist before any gradual return to play is cleared.
As a precaution, the 33-year-old right-back should not resume training on Tuesday with the group. His involvement in the Coupe de France round of 32 at Angers next Saturday at 15:30 remains uncertain. Another medical update is expected during the week.
