Gasset led the Elephants from May 2022 to January 2024, his only spell as a national team head coach.

His record in charge was 10 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats. He resigned during the tournament hosted by Côte d’Ivoire after a 0-4 loss to Equatorial Guinea.

For much of his career he worked in club football as head coach or assistant with Montpellier, PSG, Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne and OM. He was Laurent Blanc’s assistant with France between 2010 and 2012.
