Liam Rosenior’s press conference today had a lot of Cole Palmer questions. Understandably so. He’s Chelsea star player, but has been out of form and struggling for fitness for close to a year now.

Rosenior had the happy news that Palmer was ready to play 90 minutes today. But beyond that, he was pretty cagey in terms of answers.

Rosenior won’t give a proper answer over Palmer positon

One question that people are interested in is where Palmer will be used. If Andrey Santos keeps playing in a double pivot next to Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez is pushed into the ten, that means Palmer has to play wide right, or the team has to change formation.

“His best position is on the pitch,” was Rosenior’s answer to where Palmer’s best position is.

We understand that Rosenior is frustrated by all the questions about Palmer’s form and fitness, but still, this is a tactical question which he could have given a little more time to. He spent far longer batting away the previous questions about Palmer’s situation than he did answering this one which would have been really insightful to speak on.

Fans are always demanding that reporters ask better and more technical questions in the press conferences – is it any wonder that they don’t when they get such short shrift?

In other news…

Rosenior’s big demands for this game was that Chelsea treat it like the rest of their games, even though they’re going up against a weaker team. Just like the fans, he wants to see intensity from the first whistle.

Marc Cucurella was up to his usual tricks last weekend when we faced West Ham, getting himself into the centre of a brawl at the end of the game. Hilariously, Spanish TV got him on the line with his opponent.
