Former Sheffield Wednesday attacker Fernando Forestieri scored an eye-catching free-kick for Udinese in their 2-1 defeat to Torino last night, which has caused a stir among many Owls fans.

The 31-year-old spent five years at Hillsborough and played arguably the best football of his career at the Yorkshire club.

He scored 40 times and added 18 assists for Wednesday before his departure in the summer of 2020, including producing some truly magical moments.

Forestieri linked up with Serie A side Udinese after leaving the Championship club and though he’s mostly been a bit-part player, he threw himself back into the spotlight with a stunning free-kick against Torino last night.

Though his side were ultimately unable to avoid defeat, the Italian’s contribution has been doing the rounds on social media and it seems to have caught the attention of plenty of Wednesday fans.

It’s the sort of moment that the Hillsborough fanbase saw him produce a number of times during his time at the club, particularly in the early years, and you feel they’d love to have a player of his quality to help them try and get out of League One this season.
