Manchester United teenager Harry Amass is tipped to leave the club before the end of the summer, as he’s unlikely to be included in the first team’s plans.

The young left-back made his senior debut under Ruben Amorim during the 2024/25 campaign, before spending the previous season away on loan.

In September, he joined the struggling Sheffield Wednesday. Although the Owls were on a free fall, the MUFC youth product managed to impress on an individual level, with the club’s supporters voting him Player of the Month twice in a row.

Mitten expects Man United & Harry Amass to part ways

Following a bittersweet experience in Sheffield, Amass was recalled to the base in January, before joining Norwich City for the second half of the campaign. But unfortunately for the youngster, his stint was swiftly wrecked by a serious injury.

This summer, Amass rejoined Michael Carrick’s squad and has been collecting cameos during the pre-season friendlies.

But despite the lack of left-back options behind Luke Shaw, most sources believe Amass has been placed on the transfer list, as the club hopes to make room for a new arrival in this department.

During the latest episode of the Talk of the Devils podcast, Man Utd insider Andy Mitten touched on the subject.

The respected MUFC journalist insisted he ‘cannot see’ the 19-year-old lingering at Carrington beyond the summer.

Mitten’s colleague Carl Anka agreed with his assessment, believing that the young Englishman is still ‘not good enough’ to play an instrumental role at Man Utd. The Athletic writer believes INEOS should either loan him out or sell him while retaining a buy-back option.

What should Man Utd do with Amass?

While United are keen to bring in a new left-back capable of rotating with Shaw, they haven’t found any joy on this front thus far.

On the contrary, the management missed out on their top target Lewis Hall, with Newcastle making it abundantly clear that the 21-year-old is not for sale.

The Red Devils are now being linked with alternative targets, like Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys and Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas.

But until they secure a new signing, United must not offload Amass, who, at this stage, remains Shaw’s most convincing understudy.

Although he might be too green for a prominent role, Amass has already played with the first team, unlike Diego Leon, and there are no doubts about his most natural playing position, unlike Patrick Dorgu, who has only been deployed as a winger under Carrick.
