Henrikh Mkhitaryan has not yet decided whether this is the final season of his career, and warns there is ‘no point’ comparing Cristian Chivu with Simone Inzaghi at Inter now.

The Armenia international will celebrate his 37th birthday in January, but shows no signs of slowing down and remains a core figure in the Nerazzurri midfield.

He is currently publicising the release of his autobiography in Italy and that inevitably leads to questions about how long is left in his career.

“I put passion, life, heart and pride into my work. I am proud of my career and am only now realising what I achieved,” Mkhitaryan told Sky Sport Italia.

“It has been a difficult time, I am doing everything possible to be in good shape physically. At the end of this season, I’ll decide whether to continue or retire.”

He represented clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, but has been in Italy since 2019 for first Roma and then Inter.

These two Serie A clubs go head-to-head at the weekend, in what could be a Scudetto battle.

“It’s going to be a difficult stadium to play in, and Roma are doing really well under Gian Piero Gasperini, so expect an interesting match on a tactical and technical level,” noted Mkhitaryan.

“However, there’s a long season ahead, so the result won’t decide anything now for them or us. Both will want to win and we hope for a positive outcome.”

It is still early days for Inter under new coach Chivu, after two Champions League Finals and one Scudetto with Simone Inzaghi.

“There’s no point making comparisons between them now. Inzaghi had four years, Chivu so far only four months. We’ll see at the end if he’s done well or not, but I have faith. I see a great coach who can give a lot to this Inter side,” concluded Mkhitaryan.
