Mohamed Salah's future is still massively up in the air.

The attacker has been the Reds' star man for as long as many can remember with his goal contributions last season being one of the main reasons behind their success.

Most thought that his incredible form would carry over into the 2025-26 campaign but unfortunately, his poor performances have led to him being benched which resulted in the Egypt international coming out and slamming Arne Slot.

Since then, rumours about his future have been rife with several Saudi Pro League clubs being linked with an interest in the attacker.

However, a new potential destination for Salah has just emerged.

Mohamed Salah could end up moving to the MLS

Due to Salah's age, there are only a few leagues across the world that would take the risk of signing him.

The Egyptian King recently signed a two-year extension with the Anfield outfit and up until last week, it felt like everything was going swimmingly.

However, due to Salah's outburst, things have gone pear-shaped and, to be honest, it's unclear whether they'll even be rectified.

This means that, even though the attacker will be playing for Egypt for the next month or so, rumours about his future will remain with new links likely to pop up each day.

And now, in quotes relayed by FOX Sports, MLS commissioner Don Garber has given his thoughts on the attacker making the switch to America.

"Obviously, if [Salah] ever decides to come to Major League Soccer, we’d welcome him with open arms," he said.

"I’d say he should reach out to Leo [Messi] and reach out to Thomas Muller and see how happy they’ve been and how successful they’ve been and how much they’ve really embraced being in Major League Soccer.

"I’ve seen some rumours about Mo Salah. We very much believe in the sanctity of a contract; that’s an American business dynamic. Mo’s under contract to Liverpool, people we know. It’s a great team."

Liverpool must decide what they're doing with Mohamed Salah before it's too late

At the start of the 2025-26 season, the thought of Salah leaving Liverpool before his contract expired in 2027 was never on the cards for fans.

However, after his slow start to the campaign and his recent outburst about Slot, his exit is becoming more of a reality.

There's no hiding from the fact that the Egyptian King has been the Reds' best player over the last few years.

However, with how things have panned out over the last week or so, it feels like all of that is about to be thrown away.

Granted, Salah's unhappiness isn't likely to have just come out due to him being benched for three games but, even if things have gone on behind the scenes, they shouldn't have been brought into the public eye.

The next couple of weeks will prove how the Reds will fare without the attacker and, if they end up playing better than they do with him among their ranks, it could mark the end of his Anfield stint.

This would be an incredibly sad way for things to end, especially if the Reds' next game against Brighton does end up being his last.
