MLS opens inquiry into Casemiro’s Inter Miami signing

Major League Soccer opened an investigation on Wednesday into Inter Miami’s signing of Casemiro, following allegations of an illegal recruitment attempt involving the club.

The league said in a statement that it is gathering all relevant information and will not comment further until the investigation is complete.

The complaint originated with Los Angeles Galaxy, who held the MLS discovery rights to Casemiro, giving them priority to try to sign him. The Brazilian joined the Florida club while those rights remained with Galaxy.

Galaxy and Inter Miami have since reached an agreement over the discovery rights to sign Casemiro, which does not stop the league’s inquiry.

Casemiro has signed for Inter Miami on a deal through 2027, with an option to extend to 2029.
