Both AC Milan and Inter have agreed to move forward with the new San Siro, and the first obstacles have already emerged in the process.
Rebuilding a stadium like the San Siro will always be an ambitious project, partially because the elegance of the current stadium needs to be maintained or improved, and then the work has to be carefully done, considering the age of the current stadium.
In other words, like a lot of the current things involving Milan, things must be done perfectly, though it is probably easier to sort the new stadium than everything else, largely because it will be sorted by individuals outside of the club.
The clubs should have now presented the relevant documents to acquire the stadium and surrounding areas, and as a result, the first steps are ready to be made, but according to Milan News, problems must be sorted beforehand.
Firstly, the clubs must negotiate a figure for the valuation of Agenzia delle Entrate, which is believed to be near the €200 million mark. However, things like the stadium law and reclamation costs will be deducted from this price.
Following this, the clubs also must find an agreement with protesting groups around the stadium, which is the larger problem, definitely. If there is no agreement found shortly, then the process would take much longer. At present, it is hoped that the stadium will be bought by July, and work will be finished by 2030.
Already, it is a race against time, and with these uncertainties, the idea of San Donato remains, as the report states.
