Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s words about AC Milan’s project have caused divide again, between those who are sceptics and those who believe in what he is saying.

As MilanNews write, many things are not working at Milan currently. The fans are angry because they perceive that certain choices in the summer window were not the right ones and the results stand to prove it.

During an interview with the UEFA Champions League magazine done before the game against Real Madrid, Ibrahimovic was asked for his thoughts on where Milan are heading, as the Senior Advisor.

“I believe in the project, I believe in what Milan represents, and I think I share the same vision of the people who work there and the ownership because they want to do extraordinary things,” he said.

“They want to make history, to win, and when it comes to winning, that’s when I feel alive, because I want to win, I will do anything to win and I won’t give up until I win. We work hard and have big ambitions, as I said.

“The results must come because, if you don’t win, you don’t get something in return. This year some results are missing, but there are many new things in the club.”

As nice as those words are, it is clear that words are not enough. Zlatan is very convinced of the plans of the ownership, so much so that he says that results must come, but it is not expressly obvious that they will.

Milan, for example, conducted the last transfer summer transfer window with a strategy of waiting and looking for discounts on players that they had previously identified as being ideal for the plans.

Facts are needed, because – as our recent Substack feature showedMilan are currently only at less than 50% of the squad cost to revenue ratio, whereas from next year they will be allowed 70%. There are other factors at play though, which are worth reading about.
