Salah earning £400k per week at Liverpool

An incendiary interview threw Salah’s future into immediate doubt with the player hinting that Brighton on Saturday could represent his final appearance as a Red.

He was left out of the squad to play Inter in the Champions League this week and leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations after next weekend.

Where he will be playing his football come January 2026 right now is anyone’s guess - with Saudi clubs and MLS side San Diego FC said to be interested.

Salah’s wages - estimated at £400k per week - and the fact he’s under contract for another 18 months are two potential stumbling blocks for an outbound deal.

But that hasn’t stopped Salah’s entourage looking for a new destination for the star forward - with ESPN claiming that Serie A or Paris Saint-Germain could come calling in the new year.

Salah agent contacts Serie A teams

The complicating factor for a PSG deal however would be that the French side are unwilling to pay a fee.

“Salah's agent has called a number of Serie A clubs, as that is the only big European league that would take him due to his age and salary expectations,” the report reads.

“Paris Saint-Germain, where he has been linked previously, would not be interested unless he was available on a free transfer.”

The claim that Serie A sides would be either willing or able to match Salah’s salary demands is quite surprising.

The only player earning remotely close to Salah’s wage in the entire league is Dusan Vlahovic - the Juventus forward the club were willing to offload last summer.

He makes roughly the same as Salah - and the next biggest earner in the Italian top flight is reported to be Inter skipper Lautaro Martinez on around £300k per week.

Maybe Salah might make a sacrifice in order to bring a premature halt to his Liverpool career but having fought so hard for a two-year extension on his desired terms it would be a dramatic turn of events if he was to give up that kind of money so quickly.
