At the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb, Croatia beat Montenegro 4-0 in their World Cup qualifier game. With the captain's armband on, and 10 on his back, Luka Modrić played 82 minutes and set the rhythm of the game. He had two key moments: for the opener, Luka began the move, finding Jakić on the right, who scored to make it 1-0 in the 35th minute. Then, in the 42nd minute, he got round Bulatovic, forcing him to make the foul and earning the Montenegrin a second yellow. Clean on the ball, precise switches and progressive runs: he went off to the stadium's applause.
Zakhary Athekame also did well in Switzerland U21s friendly against Albania, which they won 2-1 against Albania at the Brügglifeld in Aarau. Playing in his normal position as a right-back, Athekame read the game well when the opposition counter attacked, showed composure in starting moves and when carrying the ball into the midfield. He was taken off in the 45th minute with the Swiss coach Sascha Stauch making a flurry of changes to test his squad.
