Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday 1 February with Mohamed Salah chasing historic scoring record.

Big match at Anfield

Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield in the headline fixture of Premier League Matchday 25.

Both teams enter the game needing win for different reasons as the title race and the battle for European places continue.

Liverpool aim to stay close to the top-four fight while Manchester City look to keep pressure on league leaders Arsenal.

Salah’s strong record against City

Much of the focus will be on Mohamed Salah who faces one of his favorite opponents since joining Liverpool.

The Egyptian star has recorded 21 goal contributions against Manchester City across all competitions scoring 13 goal and providing eight assist.

Only his record against Manchester United is better, with 22 goal contributions. Salah now stands on the edge of another milestone as he is two goal away from equaling Ian Rush as Liverpool’s all-time top scorer against Manchester City, a record currently set at 15 goal.

What’s at stake for both teams

Manchester City are keen to end their long struggle at Anfield and leave with all three point. A win would cut the gap to Arsenal at the top of the table to six point keeping their title hopes alive.

Liverpool meanwhile sit sixth in the league, five point behind Manchester United in fourth place.
