A rock Mohamed Salah once sat on during a trip to Trabzon has become a draw for tourists and fans in Türkiye, with visitors flocking to mimic his pose.

After he posted photos from the "Kürtdere" plateau in Trabzon province in north-eastern Türkiye, showing him perched on a boulder, the images spread rapidly across social media. Al Jazeera reported that Turkish media later captured light-hearted local reactions.

Locals dubbed the stone "Salahtaşı", meaning "Salah’s rock", and it quickly shifted from an ordinary outcrop to a landmark linked to the Egypt captain.

The report highlighted a playful exchange with the owner of nearby Subaşı facilities when asked if the area might be renamed for Salah, and a shopkeeper by the site who invited the forward to visit for tea.

As footfall grew, Turkish platforms shared clips explaining the route to the heights he had visited. Reports say a directional sign has been installed to help people reach the spot and take their photos at "Salah’s rock".

The craze comes soon after Salah’s brilliant display in a Trabzonspor shirt, a 4-0 win over Galatasaray in which he scored three and provided another, making him the talk of Turkish media and fans.
