Mohammed Al-Owais turned from safe hands into Saudi Arabia's semi-final saviour, keeping Qatar out for 120 minutes then deciding the tie in the shoot-out to send his country into the 27th Gulf Cup final against the UAE.
Goal.com notes that some Saudi fans drew parallels with his Al-Hilal team-mate Yassine Bounou, famed for penalty composure.
After a goalless 90 and extra time, the goalkeeper's first decisive act came from Jassem Jaber's third kick, which he saved to hand Saudi Arabia the edge.
He then kept out Khokhi Bouallam's effort, only for a retake to be ordered because Al-Owais had moved off his line. Confronted by the same taker under greater pressure, he saved the second attempt as well.
Al-Owais has yet to concede in the tournament, a run of 390 minutes. His penalty heroics and unbroken clean-sheet record have been central to Saudi Arabia's progress.
