Monaco CEO ‘plans to sell’ Folarin Balogun in January | OneFootball

Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has confirmed the club’s plan to sell Folarin Balogun in January, a move that would allow Lamine Camara and Aleksandr Golovin to remain until the end of the season.

“The original plan is to find a solution for Balogun. If we find that, it will give Monaco the opportunity to keep Lamine and Golovin until the end of the season. That is the ideal plan, but we can’t control the decisions and what will happen in the winter,” he told RMC Sport’s Rothen S’enflamme.

Deadline day featured parallel sagas for Balogun and Camara. With Monaco needing a sale, Balogun travelled to Liverpool for a medical with Everton, only for the move to falter late and briefly open the door for Camara to join Chelsea.

Talks between Everton, Monaco and Balogun then restarted, shutting that door for Camara, who stayed. Balogun also remained, with Scuro saying the United States forward felt uncomfortable proceeding after Everton’s medical staff questioned his fitness.

Monaco still intend to move Balogun on in January to meet commitments to French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG. The club’s ability to keep Camara and Golovin hinges on finding that solution in the winter window.
