AS Monaco have suffered two injury setbacks ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Folarin Balogun (23) recently recovered from a dislocated shoulder, suffered against Stade Rennais at the start of October. Having made an appearance off the bench against Benfica, he then started just a matter of days later against Olympique de Marseille.
However, the USMNT forward suffered a setback. After heavy contact on the affected shoulder during a duel with Leonardo Balerdi, Balogun missed the weekend win over Toulouse FC. There was considerable pessimism regarding his presence to face his formative club, Arsenal. Absent from training on Tuesday, Balogun has not travelled with the squad.
Denis Zakaria was also left out of the travelling squad. The Swiss international, initially named in the starting Xi against Toulouse pulled out last minute with a hamstring injury. Like Balogun, he is yet to return to training. Krépin Diatta, who has been out for several weeks with an adductor injury is yet to make his return.
Monaco are also without Wilfried Singo and Christian Mawissa due to suspension. Those are some considerable absences as they head to the Emirates Stadium.
